Don't Waste Your Life

Life's a journey - don't forget to unpack.

Where it all meets

Perhaps then, it is at the cross of Christ that we find what we crave for most deeply in this world. Love and sacrifice, justice and mercy, faithfulness and grace. It is at the cross of Christ that all these meet, and if we dig deep enough into the core of our being, we will find that these are the things we will live and die for. - Me

To you, my reader. :)

There, look on me, so that you may not praise me beyond what I am; there, believe me, not others, about myself; there, attend to me and see what I have been in myself, through myself. - St Augustine

Mid way through my 2 week road trip

Hey my pals.. i'm now mid-way through my 2 week road trip that will cover about 3/4 of New Zealand's South Island.. been through Arthur's Pass, Fox Glacier, and i'm now in Wanaka.. time for some pictures!

Arthur's Pass.. it snowed LIKE MAD!!! and the snow when it covers the ground.. it looks simply awesome i tell ya!

Fox Glacier. In the middle of my glacier climb! Walking through a glacier cave! Err.. crawling more like it.. haha..

On the 'peak-point' of our shaggifying half day climb up.. with WeiHao.. hehz..

In the middle of a crevass.. i nearly fell to my death here, btw.. it was pretty scary not to haf a grip on the ground (it was ice) and in between the walls (it was ice, too)

Lake Matheson.. New Zealand's most photographed lake.. cos of the awesome awesome awesome reflections of the mountains in the crystal clear lake.. it's like a mirror!

Haha.. yearh.. that's all for now.. plenty more pics coming up.. visiting some awesome places soon.. stay tuned!

btw, i'll tell ya next time what i did today! *wink*

one of those days again.

how strange. I give all my time, anytime to listen to anyone who needs a listening ear.

but when i need one, i turn around and i find no one there.
sigh.. so tired..

dunno why, but i'm getting irritated with small things really easily recently..

for the first time in the past 1.5 months that i've been in Christchurch, today i felt lonely. even though i was eating authentic Singapore Char Kway Teow and Chicken Rice. I felt all alone.

i think i get isolated by my irritability.

i get irritated => i show my irritation => people get angry at me/ hurt/ shocked/ taken aback => i feel lonely => i get irritated.

they call it 'circular causality' or 'reciprocal socialisation'.

sheesh. do the terms even mean anything at all?

i guess the good-morning-and-have-a-good-day-shoulder-squeeze morning ritual is good. It helps me to put aside any negative feelings and just commit myself to loving this sister for another new day.

just lonely.

it's 11:47pm here in Christchurch. Everyone's far away.

Incredibly alone.

fathers

Imagine today you have a daughter.

She's doing the worst things you ever imagined a girl could do.

She screws around.

She does drugs.

She beats up random other young girls on the street.

She screams at your wife (her mom) whenever she's home.

Heck, when she's out there with her friends, she doesn't even want to acknowledge you. The one time you tried to find her when she was out till late at night, she spat at your face and walked away.

Somehow, you know she's struggling with something in life, and yet because of her attitude towards you, you can't confront her with that issue.

Taking a straw poll here.

What would be in your heart as you look at your beloved daughter?

Leave comments here please, my dear readers of my very public blog. And do leave your name as well.

I just want to see what people nowadays think of the heart of fathers. (Maybe I should go check out the agency Centre for Fathering in Singapore.. haha)

Please.
Don't leave this site without telling me what you think this father has on his heart.

I really want to know. Really.

TranzAlpine

Hey hey guys! I've been on the TranzAlpine! It's touted as the best train ride in the whole world!! And yearh after going on it, i can't agree more! The train ride brings you from Christchurch to Greymouth, and along the way through Arthur's Pass and the majestic Southern Alps where you see snowcapped peak after snowcapped peak after snowcapped peak!

Haha.. these are just to whet your appetite for the REAL STUFF! The best pictures are on...

my Kodak Gallery!!

I have many many many reflections on this trip, but i can't think of any to share now. Keep checking back this post. I think i shall update my reflections on this post soon.
4:45am. Couldn't sleep.. cos i turned on the heater too warm.. and found myself waking up and going online.

Been fiddling with the stuff on my blog.. re-installed my stat-counter.. went to log in to friendster again after not logging in for really long..

I can vouch for that now.

Confirm, guarantee plus chop.

Absence DOES make the heart fonder. How long more?

NEWSFLASH

Good Morning, welcome to the 6 o'clock news once again.

Surveys have shown, that University lecturers in New Zealand, are progressively marrying dumber and dumber women. There is no conclusive reason for this, but there are signs indicating that it may be that these men have married the dumb women back home in their own country (most likely Asian), and brought them over when they decided to emigrate due to the New Zealand government's immigration policy.

Recent case studies have shown, that a Physics and Engineering Lecturer at a certain University in Christchurch (academic institution remains unnamed to protect the confidentiality of the above), has married a woman who apparently thinks a 5-fin fan heater will heat a room of 4m x 4m size in the middle of Christchurch's harsh winter. It is obviously not so as those who were living in those rooms have testified to the fact that they were awoken to the cold at night. When those involved in those rooms replied 'Very cold' to the question 'How are you?' posed to them, dumb woman put on a facial skin the thickness of cow hide and said:'Yes, Christchurch's winter is very bad. You need to wear more clothes.' Little did she noticed that the person she was talking to was already wearing a pair of track pants, a thick t-shirt, a thick pullover, as well as socks and gloves. The abovementioned was also contemplating wearing a thick yellow winter jacket.

As a result of this dumbness and a refusal to provide a bigger heater, one of the room-occupiers has decided to make his own way to the Warehouse, where he purchased a fan heater for $8.98. This heater is much more effective than the oil column, as any Physics/Engineering lecturer's wife should know. And it's 1/3 the price of the oil column too. The room is now good and warm, as good as when there was the big-sized heater.

Oh wait.. or was he a Finance lecturer?

This 6 o'clock news is once again brought to you by Evantair heaters.

Warming your world.

What can you get for $20?

Well, this is basically an update for those who liked my $1 meals entry. Essentially I've been a bit lazy to cook recently, especially with the discovery of frozen, pre-cut mixed vegetables. It makes things so much easier to cook a lunch or a dinner, that when I think of cutting all the raw vegetables.. it makes me quite sian.. haha.. as a result.. I've been eating out a lot.. and it makes me feel supremely guilty.. haha.. Marco Polo, Chinese takeaway, Singapore Chicken Rice at Yummy's Restaurant.. woahh... all at least 7 bucks leh.. 7 times as much as my budget.. sigh.. when i feel guilty about the price, I go for the cheapo option: fish n chips. The newest discovery is that i can have a meal of 1 piece of lousy, unfresh, pre-frozen, powdery fried fish and half a scoop of greasy, factory processed chips.. for.... $2.60!!! That's like the cheapest food in the whole of Christchurch!!

Well.. for those who think i'm living a pretty good life here.. i'm gonna show you what i got for $20!! I scrimp and save ok!

Explanation of the above: (anti-clockwise from red shirt) -
1. red CANDA corduroy long sleeved shirt - $1
2. black short-sleeved shirt from Hallensteins (seems like it's the Topman of NZ) - $1
3. long sleeved shirt with red stripes - $1
4. Human Nature after Darwin: A Philosophical Introduction - $2 (it cost $79 in the uni bookstore)
5. pillow - $3
6. coffee jar to keep the flavour of my coffee powder in - $1
7. cushion - $1
8. see the green background? that's my blanket cos the blardy landlady wanted to charge me $7.50 a week to use her blanket - $5

Total: $15

And today!!! Today!!! I got my wish!!! One thing i reallie wanted!! Espcially with the Transalpine weekend up to Greymouth.. this is it!!

I got BOOTS!! Haha.. ever since I came here I've wanted boots cos they help to keep my feet warm in the crazy winter.. but i couldn't find any my size and I wasn't willing to give anything more than $10 for them after I discovered the 2nd hand stores. The first 2 times i went to this store, i felt so sad cos there weren't any boots.. but today i found them!

They aren't in exactly mint condition, but they're really comfortable, they're exactly size 7 (my size), and there aren't any defects on it. And they've got the right ankle height as well! Many i've tried are either too low to give proper ankle support or too high to be comfy when walking. And to think that I actually got them by requesting to see the shoes that the store hadn't put out onto the shelves cos of lack of space. What a blessing! And you know what? Every cent of the $5 i paid for them goes to charity and the poor. I'd haf given even $20 if they asked for that amount.

Yukon walking/hiking boots -$5

Oh man, this is starting like a jacq-jacq-i-just-had-my-haircut blog entry!

But hey! Sallies rock!!
Support the Sallies!
Oh, btw, the Sallies are the Salvation Army and they're the ones who operate these 2nd hand stores. Woohoo!

You see why these 2nd hand stores work here? Cos Kiwis are really socially responsible and socially conscious people. They don't give lousy and spoilt things to charity just as a way of getting rid of them. They give actual, real, good usable stuff. If they think the things aren't worth selling, they'll tell the shop not to put a price tag, but to label it as 'FREE' so anyone who wants it can take it. In fact, I've heard that people actually BOUGHT stuff specially to give to charity. I see this a lot in the Salvation Army boxes placed at the supermarkets.. they're always chock full of stuff, fresh and good that people buy and give to the poor.

I contrast this to the time when I was helping to pack the donations for the tsunami in Singapore. How people were just using it as an excuse to throw away all their old rubbish.. dirty bras and stained panties.. amongst tonnes of other 50's retro big-shoulder-pad dresses that they didn't want anymore. Contrast it to here where people BUY things to give to the less fortunate.

Well, I can't blame anyone I guess. After all, NZ is a country where every darned public bus has a ramp for wheelchair access, and every bus has two slots specially for people who are on wheelchairs. They've got special handles to hold, special buttons to press to ring the bell, and special seat belts if i'm not wrong. People who are sitting in those seats before the disabled come up willingly, without a word, stand up and give way. All this after the driver has stopped the bus, gone down from his seat, opened the ramp, and pushed the disabled up onto the bus.

What can you get in Christchurch for $20?

Some clothes, a pair of boots.. and a deep lesson in social responsibility and consciousness.

Summer of Goodbyes...
Residents of Baghdad are systematically being pushed out of the city. Some families are waking up to find a Klashnikov bullet and a letter in an envelope with the words “Leave your area or else.” The culprits behind these attacks and threats are Sadr’s followers- Mahdi Army. It’s general knowledge, although no one dares say it out loud. In the last month we’ve had two different families staying with us in our house, after having to leave their neighborhoods due to death threats and attacks. It’s not just Sunnis- it’s Shia, Arabs, Kurds- most of the middle-class areas are being targeted by militias.

Other areas are being overrun by armed Islamists. The Americans have absolutely no control in these areas. Or maybe they simply don’t want to control the areas because when there’s a clash between Sadr’s militia and another militia in a residential neighborhood, they surround the area and watch things happen.

Since the beginning of July, the men in our area have been patrolling the streets. Some of them patrol the rooftops and others sit quietly by the homemade road blocks we have on the major roads leading into the area. You cannot in any way rely on Americans or the government. You can only hope your family and friends will remain alive- not safe, not secure- just alive. That’s good enough.

For me, June marked the first month I don’t dare leave the house without a hijab, or headscarf. I don’t wear a hijab usually, but it’s no longer possible to drive around Baghdad without one. It’s just not a good idea. (Take note that when I say ‘drive’ I actually mean ‘sit in the back seat of the car’- I haven’t driven for the longest time.) Going around bare-headed in a car or in the street also puts the family members with you in danger. You risk hearing something you don’t want to hear and then the father or the brother or cousin or uncle can’t just sit by and let it happen. I haven’t driven for the longest time. If you’re a female, you risk being attacked.

I look at my older clothes- the jeans and t-shirts and colorful skirts- and it’s like I’m studying a wardrobe from another country, another lifetime. There was a time, a couple of years ago, when you could more or less wear what you wanted if you weren’t going to a public place. If you were going to a friends or relatives house, you could wear trousers and a shirt, or jeans, something you wouldn’t ordinarily wear. We don’t do that anymore because there’s always that risk of getting stopped in the car and checked by one militia or another.

There are no laws that say we have to wear a hijab (yet), but there are the men in head-to-toe black and the turbans, the extremists and fanatics who were liberated by the occupation, and at some point, you tire of the defiance. You no longer want to be seen. I feel like the black or white scarf I fling haphazardly on my head as I walk out the door makes me invisible to a certain degree- it’s easier to blend in with the masses shrouded in black. If you’re a female, you don’t want the attention- you don’t want it from Iraqi police, you don’t want it from the black-clad militia man, you don’t want it from the American soldier. You don’t want to be noticed or seen.

I have nothing against the hijab, of course, as long as it is being worn by choice. Many of my relatives and friends wear a headscarf. Most of them began wearing it after the war. It started out as a way to avoid trouble and undue attention, and now they just keep it on because it makes no sense to take it off. What is happening to the country?

I realized how common it had become only in mid-July when M., a childhood friend, came to say goodbye before leaving the country. She walked into the house, complaining of the heat and the roads, her brother following closely behind. It took me to the end of the visit for the peculiarity of the situation to hit me. She was getting ready to leave before the sun set, and she picked up the beige headscarf folded neatly by her side. As she told me about one of her neighbors being shot, she opened up the scarf with a flourish, set it on her head like a pro, and pinned it snuggly under her chin with the precision of a seasoned hijab-wearer. All this without a mirror- like she had done it a hundred times over… Which would be fine, except that M. is Christian.

If M. can wear one quietly- so can I.

I’ve said goodbye this last month to more people than I can count. Some of the ‘goodbyes’ were hurried and furtive- the sort you say at night to the neighbor who got a death threat and is leaving at the break of dawn, quietly.

Some of the ‘goodbyes’ were emotional and long-drawn, to the relatives and friends who can no longer bear to live in a country coming apart at the seams.

Many of the ‘goodbyes’ were said stoically- almost casually- with a fake smile plastered on the face and the words, “See you soon”… Only to walk out the door and want to collapse with the burden of parting with yet another loved one.

During times like these I remember a speech Bush made in 2003: One of the big achievements he claimed was the return of jubilant ‘exiled’ Iraqis to their country after the fall of Saddam. I’d like to see some numbers about the Iraqis currently outside of the country you are occupying… Not to mention internally displaced Iraqis abandoning their homes and cities.

I sometimes wonder if we’ll ever know just how many hundreds of thousands of Iraqis left the country this bleak summer. I wonder how many of them will actually return. Where will they go? What will they do with themselves? Is it time to follow? Is it time to wash our hands of the country and try to find a stable life somewhere else?

Photos!!

Hey peeps!

I got A LOT m ore photos up on

my Kodak Gallery!!

Check them out! Esp the ones of New Brighton 2 and Akaroa! The scenery is awesome!!

I HATE THE LANDLADY

woah lao.. i reallie reallie hate the landlady now. asshole.. argh.. i reallie feel like moving out.

TMD, she walks into the house, walks into my room without asking my permission and accuses me of opening the window wide open when i never did it. she always drives past the house to spy on what we're doing.. whether we got off the heater.. and when we're not at home she uses her duplicate key to come into our rooms.. TMD..

now she accuses me of using a lot of electricity. like it's my fault. can't i stay in the house the whole day everyday? it's not my issue man. u rent the house to me, i have a right to be here as much as i want. is it your problem that i don't go out much? asshole!!!!!

now she didn't even bother to consider my opinion, she removed the remote control of my room's heater, replaced it with a tiny one we all know doesn't work and left. keep saying what it will burn or 'you can't heat the whole of New Zealand with this heater, u noe.'

arrrrrgggghhhhh i reallie wanna get outta here!!!!

1 month already

Wow.. in the twinkling of an eye, i've been in Christchurch for a month already.

Several things have happened, and for the most part, truly my theme verse for New Zealand has been coming true. It has been useful and comforting to me in almost all aspects of my life: from choosing what to do on weekends when I have a dilemma (such as tomorrow, when I hafta choose between going to Akaroa to see scenery and going to the Singapore Club bbq), or when stuff happens around me that I can't understand.

Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.

Psalm 116:7

I must say, it's been a truly awesome time so far.

I've gone to the beach 3 weekends in a row, all three time I visited New Brighton. I've also been to Southshore and Sumner (which I went alone).

I've watched 2 arthouse movies that kicked-ass: Tsotsi as well as Live & Become. Live & Become wasn't as touching as Tsotsi, but it was still awesome.

I've went to New Brighton early in the morning to watch the sunrise.

Visited Riccarton Racecourse Sunday market.

Participated in the Student Fee Hike Protest.

Participated in the Do You Agree With Jeremy? campaign.

Visiting Akaroa this weekend and taking the TranzAlpine next week.

I've bought fudge, pillows, handmade chocolates for tigger.

I've brought HuiShan to buy bicycles at Armagh Street.

Best of all, is my sharing and prayer time with Tigger-Rebbie every night before we sleep.

Owell.. it's been a really nice month so far.. slow-paced.. people living their own lives. Weirdly, I haven't really missed home much so far tho..

Weeee! 4 more months to go!

East

East.

The direction where the sun rises from.

Today I understood a bit more of why the Psalmist said:'From the rising of the sun, to the place where it sets, let the name of the Lord be praised'.

Sunrises and sunsets are the most beautiful scenes on earth. Trust me. Ask anyone of us Singaporeans here (ok, i'm e only one who has seen a sunrise here, cos e rest can't wake up on time), but all the rest have seen sunsets.

I woke up later than I expected today. Wanted to be up by 5:45am to prepare and rush out to catch e 6:29am bus, but I only managed to haul myself out of bed at 6:15. As a result, I could only catch the 6:56 bus, and i arrived at New Brighton Pier just at the very moment the sun peeked out from the horizon. I whipped out my camera, set it to video mode, and video-ed the sun coming up. It was seriously one of the most beautiful scenes I had ever seen in my life.

To the south, I saw mist and clouds that filled the horizon and the place where the clouds and the waves met. To the north, the mountains were casting shadows on each other from the rising sunlight.

I wonder how long heat takes to travel. Cos I was so darned cold in the winter sea-breeze at first, but as the sun rose, I just felt its warmth radiate onto my face.. reminded me of the song 'His love is warmer than the warmest sunshine'. It's such a weird yet nice feeling to haf the cold winter breeze in one side of your face, and the warmth of the sun on another.

That man fishing at the pier. I'm not sure how often he fishes there, but from his skill, it looks like he's a real expert. He must live the most satisfying life ever.

Because when we see the sunrise, we are eternally satiated with the recognition of our Creator's love and faithfulness.

Cheers.

Forgiveness and Second Chances

Hmm.

Just some thoughts of mine.

I've been given many second chances in life thus far I guess. I'm sure everyone has a fair share of a collection of mistakes and forgivenesses.

Well, it's true that sometimes the hurt will never go away totally, but perhaps many times we also hold on to it and never let it go. Is it perhaps because that makes us feel significant where we have been treated otherwise? That I still have a role to play in the whole situation when we have felt helpless.

Forgiveness has never, and will never be something that can be demanded. Especially not if there was never true remorse. Yet, remorse does not qualify us for forgiveness.

Forgiveness is given at the complete discretion of the forgiver; he has total 'sovereignty' whether to dispense this grace or not. The hurt will always have a right to say 'no' to a request for grace from the hurter.

Yet, I've found out from my own experience, it's a pretty difficult life to lead if there's someone in my past whom I've not forgiven. I spent two years in that crazy state, and I could never find peace within myself.

Hmm.. the paradoxes of life.. the innate capacities of us humans.. doesn't it scare you what we can do when love is lost?

23rd Birthday in NZ

Today was spent at my favourite place in Kiwiland so far: New Brighton.. it was awesomely beautiful as usual.. :)

All thanks to Rebecca, Manasi, Shaleen, Michael, Yixian, Junren and Wei Hao.

The effort was really sweet.. I really really appreciated it.. I don't get very many birthday celebrations back in Singapore.. and although I could sense you guys were up to something along the way home.. I decided to put it to the back of my mind and just allow myself to be surprised.. and I must say.. I was!

When I walked home into the house and saw it was all dark with a glow in the kitchen and all you guys standing there.. my heart just went 'awwwwwww..'

Me about to blow the candle (e purple thing at e side of e cake)

Me cutting the cake bought from Countdown.. RUM!!! Shaleen, Michael and Rebbie Tigger looking on..

See!! That's rebecca's birthday card for me.. awww.. aint it sweet? Haha... I call her tigger cos she always wears a striped sweater at home.. and i'm pooh cos i got the tummy to match.. and hence the drawing she drew for me!!

Personally draw wan leh... i'm soooo touched laaaaa.... :)

Things that SUCK and Things that ROCK

I swear.

It sucks to be involved in racist incidents. Damn it. I never knew it was so prevalent here in NZ. Junren says he's been involved with more than 5 already. I've personally been involved in 2. First one was a couple of weeks ago on the way to Riccarton Mall when this bunch of white asshole kids drove by us and made dog-sounding noises.

The 2nd time occurred 5 minutes ago. I was cycling home from uni, and this bunch of blardy white kids drove by me and sprayed water on me. You know, like the wiper-spray thingy that's meant to help clean your windscreen? Well, this bunch of kids were speeding through a small lane and apparently they had that wiper-spray turned to the side so they can spray it at random Asians that they see on the streets and speed away.

Can't you damned assholes just grow up, you assholes?

Fear cripples. I really understand that now.

I mean, at many times, fear cripples SO much that it hinders us from living our lives normally and being normal human beings.

I mean, i could choose not to sleep in my room because the mouse is here somewhere and move out and sleep in the kitchen and freeze, or I could choose not to be too bothered with its presence. I can't move out of my room, can i?

Can't imagine how Shaleen would've cooked dinner last night. She didn't dare to take the garlic out of the cupboard cos it was near where the mouse was last seen. Oh well.

Thank God the mouse is in my room and not Shaleen's, Manasi's or Reb's room, if not three people's lives will be pretty turned-around.

Well, just throw away that pack of biscuits and put some rat poison. It's about as much as we can do, isn't it?

I guess this is a small reflective lesson for what I'm facing in a much larger scale with the difficult time i'm going through. But just like the mouse in my room and it's presence, I'm gonna try not to allow this to affect me till Aug 10. Cos really, there ain't much I can do about it.

Well, enough about things that suck. How about something that ROCKS?

University of Canterbury Students' Association Fee Hike Protest! 26th July, 2pm

And besides all the awesome signs, they had a live band a free sausages for everyone present! Woohoo! (And btw, the band rocked too)

The UC Students' Association President Warren Poh speaks before marching into the Vice-Chancellor's office to lay down his demands:

Nervous University admin staff looking on from their offices to what's happening in the square:

Well, I guess now we all know that wearing BLACK T-shirts aren't that effective after all. Erm.. the NUS council didn't give 2 hoots to us. But this protest at UC brought about the desired results, I would say. They have a history of protesting. Like camping in the Uni Admin Building so no one can do work. Or close down the Uni in 2001. Or marching down the road that leads to the city centre. Or perhaps angmohs just find any excuse to party..

Erm. Mr Danny Goh, would you like to take a look at what's going on here? Kao-bei-ing on online forums ain't too effective, u noe..

Did Zeus Just Throw A Thunderbolt?

Things just hit you like a thunder bolt at times. Like one of those things you were always afraid would happen, but secretly hoped they did not, and refused to think about them.

I'm not too sure how to feel, still trying to digest things. Thank God for Rebecca and for the hugs and knee-pats and hand-holds she gave and just being there. I can't say how much I appreciate her and her presence as literally the girl-next-door.

I can't believe how difficult it is.

Don't ask me what happened k. I'll talk and share when it's time.

Pictures!

Okay guys.. pictures are here! I haf too many pictures to load up here, so take a look at

my Kodak Gallery!

Enjoy! Especially the ones of New Brighton 2 and Southshore.. i like them the most.. i'm pretty proud of some of the shots too! :) New Zealand illustrates more of the life here and all.. :)

Oh by the way, Rebecca forced me to remove all those photos of her pouting in front of the camera and those vain ones she took of herself after borrowing my camera and secretly bringing it back into her room.. hehz...

Weeeee!

$1

wow.. the weather yesterday and today was simply beautiful.. yesterday we went to New Brighton again and also this other beach called Southshore.. it was beautiful and awesome as usual.. and as Junren says.. we just can't get sick of the beach..

will show you guys photos soon.. when i've managed to upload them to Kodak Gallery..

3. When I cycle to school from the house here in NZ, i like to chiong damn fast from the house out onto the main road.. but by the first junction i'll be shack-out.. so i slow down.. and i don't understand why when it's cold Rebecca likes to walk fast in the cold..

a. walk faster, will perspire, the perspiration evaporates and u get colder.
b. walk faster, means will breathe more heavily, means u breathe in more cold air, and feel colder, and ur lips and nose get really really cold.
c. walk faster, the wind is stronger in ur face cos of the pace that u're walking at, and u get colder.
d. walk slower, since u're already in the cold, walking faster doesnt make sense since increasing ur pace would prolly get u to ur destination like 5s earlier.. it's not like we can increase our speed from 5km/h to 35km/h.. the 5s dun make a difference especially considering factors A- C that i've just listed.
e. why walk faster and tire urself out, and get colder?
f. WHY WALK FASTER??????
