Cufflinks
Got myself my very first shirt with cufflinks last week! I realised how much nicer shirts with cufflinks are! They actually look much smarter, but they're also not shirts u can wear to just any occasion la.
The thing is, this new shirt I bought is of the exact same material as some of my other shirts, but woah, i realised the cufflinks make a huge difference man.
I wonder whether sometimes we also need cufflinks on the shirts of our lives. You know, like we try to add something here and there. Sometimes, a mandarin collar. Other times, nicely coloured buttons or a cute pocket (like the shirt ben wore for Grad Nite, he's the bassist next to me in the pic on my previous post). All to try and look a little more outstanding than the man standing next to you, for that rush of looking a little better, for that brief reprieve from monotony.
I, for one, have definitely tried to add cufflinks to my life. Try new things to spice it up. Volunteer work, friendships, this blog, the drums, sometimes even (in some senses) BGR. Not all cufflinks fit onto all shirts, and sometimes, not everything fits into my life as well. Some cufflinks look cool, others are wayy too loud, and others just make u look like a ridiculous fool (like those with a compass rolling around inside the cufflinks).
The thing with a shirt designed for cufflinks is that, you can't wear it without cufflinks. And sometimes, once we've committed to buying that shirt, we just hafta haf cufflinks whenever we want to wear that shirt. Can't run.
What cufflinks do you have on the shirt of your life?
