Don't Waste Your Life

Life's a journey - don't forget to unpack.

Where it all meets

Perhaps then, it is at the cross of Christ that we find what we crave for most deeply in this world. Love and sacrifice, justice and mercy, faithfulness and grace. It is at the cross of Christ that all these meet, and if we dig deep enough into the core of our being, we will find that these are the things we will live and die for. - Me

To you, my reader. :)

There, look on me, so that you may not praise me beyond what I am; there, believe me, not others, about myself; there, attend to me and see what I have been in myself, through myself. - St Augustine

Friend Feature: Mindy

Today I shall friend feature someone else. Her name's right up there on the title heading: MINDY!! I decided to write about her after talking to her yesterday in the library and today online. The more I talk to her, the more I appreciate her, especially sometimes when I dun get to meet her very often.

Mindy was one of those random tuition classmates I had back in secondary school. She was one of those who were super naughty and loved to fool around a lot. I remember my first impression of her was: What kind of girl is this? Hehe.. it was in response to a game of Mad Libs, and when asked for an adjective, she said 'erotic'. I was like HUH??!?

I used to go for class back then with this other fren of mine (yes, wei yee, i mean YOUR BROTHER). And I remember then that Mindy ALWAYS talked to him, but never to me. hmph. maybe cos he was better looking. (agree, wei yee?) somehow, me and mindy only knew each other by name.

through a series of obstacles and other weirdo incidents (like how she couldn't come to Hwa Chong despite being JSS's top student with 6 pts and had to appeal, like how i rushed to give her a call on the public phone when i saw her name wasn't on the 2nd intake list to tell her to appeal quickly, like how on her first day in Hwa Chong she couldn't find the room the appealees were supposed to go but bumped into me instead, like how she decided to join the same CCA as me out of nowhere), we kinda started saying more than 'Hi' to each other.

Out of nowhere, she also told me about how she was going through a tough time, and how she believed that God would bring her through. That was when I also realised that she was a new Christian. As our interactions became more and more through our CCA, we also spent more time together, hanging out for movies, lunches, and even studying together on Saturdays after CCA. In a sense, this was when our friendship grew, but it was also kinda rocky on my part. She was kinda eccentric.. hehe.. and one day she would say a great warm 'Hi!!' to me and that very same afternoon she would just totally ignore me. It bothered me a great deal, like mad.. but remember the girl in the previous Friend Feature? She always told me to keep pursuing the friendship because it was worth pursuing, and I did.

Mindy herself gave much into the friendship. It was only when we both started trusting each other with deeper issues and problems that we were dealing, only when we not only KNEW we could turn to each other to cry, but actually DID, then our friendship really grew and deepened.

She's one of those friends that I've really turned to to cry to, and she's done the same with me.

Even just this morning, she was such a great source of comfort. Her thoughts and her heart, although she doesn't always enjoy me praising her, is something worth pursuing in itself.

Thanks buddy. U rock. :)
