Don't Waste Your Life

Life's a journey - don't forget to unpack.

Where it all meets

Perhaps then, it is at the cross of Christ that we find what we crave for most deeply in this world. Love and sacrifice, justice and mercy, faithfulness and grace. It is at the cross of Christ that all these meet, and if we dig deep enough into the core of our being, we will find that these are the things we will live and die for. - Me

To you, my reader. :)

There, look on me, so that you may not praise me beyond what I am; there, believe me, not others, about myself; there, attend to me and see what I have been in myself, through myself. - St Augustine

Generalities

It's THAT time of the year again. Or rather, that time of the SEM. Reading week. The time when we all start panicking. We all start reciting Isaiah 41:13 to ourselves again and again.

I'm tired. Very tired. My brains are aching. This morning i sat down in Central Library and i studied.. for quite a while man.. but after 1 and a half hours.. my head just felt so heavy that it was gonna fall off soon. So tired. Brain's running outta capacity. Haiz. Why exams? Why can't we have more unexaminable subjects? I wish that we could get to do more hands on work for SW modules. Like just go out and try conducting groups or sth. Or be graded based on interviewing a client. Or be watched interacting and assessing an elderly's situation. How cool would that be?

Brains are fried.

On the other hand, i'm sitting in Central Library alone! For the first time in quite a long while!
It's good to take a break sometimes and be alone. Wonder where Hobbit, Vig n Jacq are.. well, while i say it's good to be alone, don't leave me alone for too long k!

Glad. Looking forward to lunch in half an hours' time. I'll be lunching with my best buddy for e first time in school this sem! Can u believe it? It'll be a good time to catch up i guess. Miss her quite a bit. And she'll be graduating with her honours degree soon. We prob wun haf so much time to hang out and share our lives. Certainly not after she gets married to him. :) Treasure things while they last. Sadly, idealistic Liren has come to realise, no matter how wonderful a platonic friendship is, it inevitably comes to a comma when one party gets attached, and a fullstop at marriage. Sad.

Notice the starting and ending word of the previous paragraph. It illustrates so much doesn't it?

The innate tensions of friendship. Enjoying the here and now. Yet knowing that the future is always an unknown.

Well, it's a matter of quality time vs quantity time.

As one grows older, time is really not on hand. So if you're looking for quantity, it'll be rather tough though not impossible.

So rather than shooting for quantity, it's better to have quality time.

u know whats the best thing about platonic friendships tat i like the best? When u and ur best opposite sex friend do not or cannot have that quantity time together anymore but when u meet u know u have something precious there!

My best friend is attached (tho i think he just broke up with his gf) and he's in UK and we only meet like twice a YEAR! Yet, when we do meet, even through the silence we know we have a friendship that is precious to the both of us.

Treasure the preciousness of it! Friendships like this seldom come ur way. Hehe....

    :)

and don't worry, I don't think u and edgar will be playing chess everyday at age 76. U know what i mean! :)

zhixiang quoted abit of ur entry on his blog.. So i thought i'll come and take a look..

i remembered a fren who told me that too. and he's in his 30s. when it was first told to me, i couldn't really accept it. but i guess when u look around, it really becomes the truth.

so ya, treasure it while it lasts.

and all the best for the upcoming exams. the Lord says we must rejoice, and bless His name! that's what a brother told me and it sorta kept me going on. =]
