Directions
I live in the middle/ north of Singapore. Every morning, when I head towards Bedok for work, I go left-wards at the main road outside my house. That road heads towards the east.
The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, and so each morning I would be on the bus with the sun shining brightly above my head and rising higher and higher. This is the REAL view each morning:
Sun very bright hor?
But as some of you may know, I have now been posted to Bukit Timah, which is in the west. That means I have to go right-wards when I hit the main road cos it's in the opposite direction of Bedok. I live in the middle of these 2 places. This is the view:
Contrast hor?
From full brightness in my face, to a darker, somehow more solemn view.
Somehow, this morning, the change in morning views hit me quite hard. A change in direction changes what we can see, but sometimes things are just darker without the light. I no longer have the sun shining bright and rising above my head (it used to be one of the things I'd look forward to in the morning).
It used to be that each morning when I reach the main road, I'd just stand there and wait for the bus. Now, I actually have to try to remind myself which office I'm heading to for that day. Maybe I'm just kind of still trying to adapt, maybe I miss Bedok. i dun noe.
Maybe this 180 degree directional change signals a shift in life direction in general? I don't know.
But I certainly don't want the sun to be behind me. Neither do I want it to set before me before I reach my destination.
Share more thoughts another time. :) Too many things happening. I need time to myself to think.
