Don't Waste Your Life

Life's a journey - don't forget to unpack.

Where it all meets

Perhaps then, it is at the cross of Christ that we find what we crave for most deeply in this world. Love and sacrifice, justice and mercy, faithfulness and grace. It is at the cross of Christ that all these meet, and if we dig deep enough into the core of our being, we will find that these are the things we will live and die for. - Me

To you, my reader. :)

There, look on me, so that you may not praise me beyond what I am; there, believe me, not others, about myself; there, attend to me and see what I have been in myself, through myself. - St Augustine

Growing Up

Today, I realised, I'm old le.

我长大了。我不再是小孩子了。

I sat across the table from the Financial Planner. I saw the document titled: Personal Financial Review. Payouts, premiums, years, healthcare, income replacement.

'I wouldn't recommend anyone spend more than 5-10% of their income on insurance. That would just be wasteful.'

'This can be converted or you can stop paying the premiums if your future husband is able to support you in this area.'

A while ago, Rachrach told me she had a friend who did the sums. And rach was relating to me the basic costs of how much it costs to get married in Singapore. Downpayment for HDB, renovation, wedding banquet, wedding package.

When I actually start talking with friends about how much it will cost to get married, I think, it makes me realise that i really AM turning 25 in 5 months time. Can't run anymore.

Met up with Jon, his girlfriend and Qi over MIND cafe games, dinner and visiting my house. Jon now talks in terms of square feet, mature estates, rooms, resale. And me and Qi talk about FYP. Our worlds are so different now, but in a few months time maybe it won't be that different anymore.

I will walk straight into the working world, where insurance and finance will become an unavoidable part of life.

I will have to finally see a financial planner who I have not wanted to talk to for so long.

I will have to think about CPF and Medisave and Minimum Sums and Original Accounts.

I will have to file taxes.

I will have to get insurance for myself.

I will have to calculate my savings.

I will be.. A WORKING ADULT.
