Don't Waste Your Life

Life's a journey - don't forget to unpack.

Where it all meets

Perhaps then, it is at the cross of Christ that we find what we crave for most deeply in this world. Love and sacrifice, justice and mercy, faithfulness and grace. It is at the cross of Christ that all these meet, and if we dig deep enough into the core of our being, we will find that these are the things we will live and die for. - Me

To you, my reader. :)

There, look on me, so that you may not praise me beyond what I am; there, believe me, not others, about myself; there, attend to me and see what I have been in myself, through myself. - St Augustine

Argh

Argh. You piss me off. I've been trying to withhold my pissed-off-ness from public view for some time, but well it was a really big straw today.

I'm really quite irritated at the hall people, especially the guys who are on the same level as me. I mean, admittedly, some of them are quite nice peeps, but i also believe some of the others are total assholes. Why am I not surprised.

I told HBT some time ago about how there was some empty space on a shelf in one of the shower cubicles in the common toilet, so I decided to leave my shampoo, shower foam and facial wash there. I mean, duh, since everyone leaves their stuff there and there was space on the shelf, why not right? But everyday when I leave it there after I shower, I'd leave for class etc and when I come back at night, I'd find that someone has taken my stuff and put it all over the place in the toilet. Shampoo at this end of the sink la, facial wash there la, shower foam in another place. I must have offended someone by leaving them on the empty shelf with the rest of the 10 other bottles of stuff. Apparently, I knew that dogs were territorial creatures, but hall dwellers... ??

Today was disgusting. I had just had my morning coffee fix when I decided to get rid of the coffee aftersmell in my mouth and wanted to brush my teeth, when horror of horrors, I walked into the toilet and found out someone had 'koped'my toothpaste. It was nowhere to be found. This is damn irritating cos everyone else leaves their toothpaste and toothbrush on the sink, and so apparently someone was offended again. I didn't care, I just grabbed my nearest tube of Colgate and squeezed some on my toothbrush.

TMD.

On the other hand, the cleaner aunty in the Central Library just really made my day. I came up to level 5 and picked my spot to settle down for the day, just when the auntie was doing her rounds wiping up all the tables just as the day was starting.

Even though my table wasn't dirty at all, she made a point to come over to me from another table and said 'Come, auntie wipe the table for you. So you have a clean place to study arh.' In return, I gave her a mega smile and said thank you as sincerely as I could. She really could've left me alone since the table wasn't dirty, and just glossed me over and save herself some work for the day. But she didn't, insisting even that 'it's my duty.' with a cheerful smile too! :) Wow.

I think I have this thing for cleaners. Somehow, maybe cos my parents brought me up to respect deeply the auntie who works in my home helping with the cleaning, and has since become a family friend after working for us for 21 years. I remember someone asking me if talking to cleaners might actually be a sign of an occupational hazard. Maybe it is. hahaha.

I always try to say hi and good morning to the hall auntie who cleans our block and our toilet when I see her, I think she remembers me too. Also, my mom used to give extra cakes and other snacks that we had too much of (usually cos someone else gave them to us) to this auntie who'd mop our condo floor everyday. After I came back from New Zealand, with a shaved head, she couldn't recognise me, but I decided to go up to her and say hi when I saw her taking a break. I'm surprised how that little gesture made her day. We chatted for a short while, and sometimes nowadays when I go home she'd be quite excited to see me and would wave at me from far away. hahaha.. it's quite funny.

Thanks auntie. For the clean place to study. :)
