Don't Waste Your Life

Life's a journey - don't forget to unpack.

Where it all meets

Perhaps then, it is at the cross of Christ that we find what we crave for most deeply in this world. Love and sacrifice, justice and mercy, faithfulness and grace. It is at the cross of Christ that all these meet, and if we dig deep enough into the core of our being, we will find that these are the things we will live and die for. - Me

To you, my reader. :)

There, look on me, so that you may not praise me beyond what I am; there, believe me, not others, about myself; there, attend to me and see what I have been in myself, through myself. - St Augustine

Friend Feature: Xiao-zhen

hehe.. i discovered new stuff to blog about on Christina's blog!!! heh.. featuring friends here!

Today I shall feature Xiao-Zhen. To those who don't know her, here's her photo. Well, I know it isn't the best photo of a person to show on a blog, but then again its the only photo i have of her. It was taken the last time i saw her, which was in March 2005. It's coming to a year already, and she won't be back till the end of 2006, which means i won't see her for 21 whole months!

I don't think she'll ever read this post, cos she doesn't read my blog. Hmm, i think she doesn't even use the internet!

Xiao-zhen was my secondary school classmate, for 2 years i think. We kinda parted ways after our Anderson days, cos her parents decided that an Australian education would do her more good. In fact, all her siblings are studying overseas currently, it's only left with the parents who are in Singapore.

More importantly, she was the first person to disciple me when I became a Christian back in sec 3. She was such an amazing blessing to have in class. In fact, she was such a nice person, all our classmates nicknamed her 'saint', not in any sarcastic manner at all, but it was honestly how we felt. Till today, I still can't imagine that such a nice person actually exists, although I've known her for so many years.

She was always on hand to pray for me, or to listen to me whine, and she never judged me. Her behaviour reflected how God really was to me. I've always been totally comfortable with her and sharing stuff with her. And now, even though we see each other only once every few years, and we talk once every few months, she's still so dear to me. Everytime we meet up or chat over a trunk call, it really does feel as if nothing has changed that much and that time hasn't really passed.

It's so cool. She's a graduate now, while I'm still a sophomore here in NUS. Here comes the cool part. It seems that even though we now live so far apart, and our lives hardly ever cross each others' paths, the Lord has called us both into the same field to serve Him. Xiao-zhen's going to start her Masters in Social Work soon, and we're both going to be social workers! Heh, i think that's real cool.

Xiao-zhen, thanks for all that you've given me. I can never love u enough, buddy. I pray that this will not be the peak of our friendship, because we have many years of our lives left to live for Him and share with each other. May our Father continue to watch over us and call us to His good purpose.
