Fixated
It was as we were singing those words: Dead men rise and the blind get to see.. my eyes fixated on that one woman who sat there in front.. with a wheelchair neatly folded up behind her seat. I saw thousands of people around her who were jumping and shouting, but this woman sat there.. simply with her hands lifted up.
I've seen her around before. She has always left a deep impression on me (if she is the person i think she is, that is..) I've seen her at past FoPs before, and other major Christian events. I remember her always saying before she sits down or stands up to get in or out of her wheelchair.. she says: "Jesus, Jesus, please give me strength." and then she tries with all her might to do what she needs to..
I wonder. Perhaps that's real strength. Always trusting, always knowing she's weak and she needs to depend on God. Perhaps that's what really pleases God. A child who loves. Perhaps that's what God wants to see.. beyond all the spiritual highs and jumping abouts..
I wonder. If we ever think about the words that we sing. "Lord, I give You my heart, I give You my soul, I live for You alone" or "We are an army of God, ready to die", or "Jesus I believe in You and I would go to the ends of the earth".. all well and good in that high situation when we sing these songs, how ready are we to carry out wat we sing? or as Joe Chean puts it more bluntly: Do we realise how often we sing that lie?
We all sang those songs today, didn't we?
Or did we sing a lie?
